We are seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for strategic network planning, design, and optimization. This role involves developing cutting-edge network solutions using current and emerging technologies, with a focus on wireless infrastructure. The Network Engineer will translate business needs into effective network designs, recommend appropriate hardware, software, and architecture, and ensure compliance by reviewing and modifying network designs.
Key responsibilities include managing the configuration and maintenance of routers, switches, and wireless hubs, evaluating and endorsing new products, and staying updated on emerging technologies. The successful candidate will proactively monitor network performance, conduct capacity planning, and offer improvement suggestions. Proficiency in troubleshooting and devising resolution protocols is essential. The role may also involve assuming the position of Project Leader for enterprise-wide initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic network plans, designs, and optimizations
- Translate business requirements into effective network solutions
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies
- Manage configuration and maintenance of network infrastructure
- Evaluate and recommend new network products and technologies
- Monitor network performance and conduct capacity planning
- Troubleshoot complex network issues and develop resolution protocols
- Lead enterprise-wide network-related projects
- Configure and manage network switch equipment
- Strategize infrastructure equipment replacement
- Collaborate with the Information Security Team on firewall rules and PCI compliance
- Participate in team projects, meetings, and assignments
- Mentor junior staff on various network management aspects
- Document technology solutions and contribute to Property Management Reports (PMRs)
- Participate in after-hours on-call rotation
- Travel to remote locations for support when needed
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree or Technical Institute Degree/Certificate in Information Systems or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 7 years of IT work experience in infrastructure/network environments
- Expertise in network configuration (DMARC, fiber distribution, routers, switches, DHCP, topology)
- Proficiency in planning and implementing copper and fiber network systems, including wireless
- Extensive experience with enterprise switching products
- In-depth knowledge of the OSI model and its application in data flow
- Strong understanding of network security principles and practices
- Experience with HPE/Aruba networking equipment (highly desired)
- Ability to lift 50 pounds when necessary
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant networking certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CCIE)
- Experience with network performance optimization and capacity planning
- Familiarity with Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards
- Strong project management and leadership skills
